Text-to-Speech

MyBible supports text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis for Bible modules.
Note: This feature is based on the Android TTS engine and the language-specific voice data you have on your device.

  • Use the TTS button in the Bible window header to start speaking from the current verse. A long touch on this button allows you to limit the number of chapters to listen to.
  • A long touch on the TTS button in any window allows you to select a TTS engine to use, in case if there are several TTS engines installed on your device.
  • When there are selected verses, the TTS is performed only for them, with a possibility to auto-repeat them.
  • If you move to another place of the Bible while the speaking is active, the speaking will continue from the new current verse.
  • A change to the synthesis speed will be applied when the next verse begins.
  • MyBible also supports TTS for Commentaries, Daily Devotions, and Dictionaries.
  • When commentary links are shown directly in the Bible text, and opening of commentaries in a balloon is specified in the settings, the TTS of the Bible text will be automatically opened and commentaries read when reaching links to them. The commentaries are spoken with a voice of a higher pitch, so that it is possible to tell by the voice whether you are listening to the Bible text or to commentaries.
  • You can correct pronunciation of words which the system TTS engine pronounces incorrectly. To do that, in the Bible text select a single word that is being pronounced incorrectly, then use a button with the ear icon to bring up the “Word enhancements for TTS” window.
